Steps to your Driving Independence!

Before stepping foot inside the garage at dSi, there are a number of people to speak to about your possibility of driving.

The first step is to contact a driver rehabilitation specialist with experience with a DSI system for a complete assessment of your driving needs. Contact the Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED) for the nearest facility to you. They are also a wealth of knowledge and can answer many of your questions.

If you are a client of Department of Rehabilitation, contact your counselor.

DSI also builds vans for VA, workers compensation and private pay.

You should expect to go through some driver evaluations where your cognitive and physical abilities are tested in order to determine your ability to drive. The other aspect they will be testing is which driving system is best for you. Once all that is completed, and you pass, the building of your vehicle and your training begins.

This does not happen over night and many times can take anywhere from 1 to 3 years to complete the process. Don't give up! It's worth the struggle. We look forward to meeting you.
